As an AWS Postgres DBA, you will play a crucial role in managing, monitoring, and optimizing our PostgreSQL databases that are hosted on AWS. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the performance, security, and reliability of our database systems, which are integral to our data-driven initiatives. You will be expected to work onsite three days a week in one of our locations: San Diego, CA, Charlotte, NC, or Florham Park, NJ. In this position, you will install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases on AWS, ensuring they are highly available, performant, and secure. You will monitor database performance and implement best practices for optimization, which includes query optimization, indexing, and database tuning. Additionally, you will develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime. Security is a key aspect of this role; you will ensure the security of our database systems by implementing best practices for access control, encryption, and compliance with industry standards. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining scripts that automate routine DBA tasks, such as backups, monitoring, and patch management. Collaboration with the cloud engineering team will be essential as you design and optimize the AWS infrastructure for our database systems, including VPCs, security groups, and IAM roles.
