About the position

As an AWS Site Reliability Engineer at Booz Allen Hamilton, you will be responsible for enhancing the resilience and efficiency of systems supporting the Department of Defense (DoD). Your role will involve building robust infrastructure, implementing monitoring tools, and automating processes to reduce manual toil. You will leverage your expertise in cloud technologies, particularly AWS, to support a team of engineers and act as a subject matter expert for clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of resilient systems for the DoD.
• Build redundancy into infrastructure and implement monitoring tools.
• Automate routine tasks and self-repair processes.
• Support the team of engineers and act as a subject matter expert for clients.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience with information technology.
• Experience with provisioning, operations, and management in AWS environments.
• Experience with monitoring applications and infrastructure using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK, Dynatrace, DataDog, CloudWatch, or OpenSearch.
• Experience with core SRE practices, including monitoring instrumentation and defining SLIs, SLOs, and Error Budgets.
• Experience with Cloud infrastructure and automation tools, such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements.
• Bachelor's degree.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Git repositories and CI/CD concepts.
• Experience with programming or scripting languages like Bash, Python, or JavaScript for automation.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and working in an Agile development environment.
• Experience with making systems fully observable and monitoring distributed systems across regions.
• Experience with advanced SRE practices, including capacity planning and chaos engineering.
