About the position

Our client, a large software company, is looking to bring on an Azure Cloud Administrator to help them make their datacenter more cloud focused. The ideal candidate will have experience working out of a datacenter and will be instrumental in automating and containerizing their systems. Currently, the company operates primarily in an on-premises Windows environment but aims to transition to a cloud-first approach within the next two years. The role requires a strong technical background in Windows, SCCM, AD/Entra, and network monitoring. Additionally, experience with Azure DevOps is crucial, as the candidate will utilize tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Powershell, and Ansible to ensure that all processes are automated and secure. This position is hybrid, requiring the candidate to be onsite three days a week in Louisville, Kentucky. It is a 6-month contract-to-hire role, with a pay rate of $50-60 per hour, depending on experience. Upon conversion, the salary is expected to be around $110-120K. The Azure Cloud Administrator will also be responsible for providing both remote and hardware support as needed, and will be on call for the datacenter approximately once every five weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Automate and containerize system processes using Azure DevOps tools.
  • Provide remote and hardware support in a datacenter environment.
  • Monitor and support datacenter network operations.
  • Build Powershell scripts from the ground up to enhance automation.
  • Be on call for the datacenter once every five weeks.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a datacenter environment.
  • Strong knowledge of datacenter network support and monitoring.
  • Experience utilizing Azure DevOps tools for automation and containerization.
  • Ability to build Powershell scripts from scratch.
  • 5+ years of system administration/engineering experience.
  • 2+ years working with Azure cloud and/or Azure DevOps.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with SCCM and AD/Entra.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as DNS and DHCP.
