About the position

As a Cloud Engineer/Architect at DIGITALSPEC, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing an enterprise cloud environment that services over 10,000 users. This position is based in Washington, DC, with a flexible work arrangement of three days remote and two days onsite each week. You will be responsible for the engineering, development, and administration of a federal enterprise cloud system, ensuring that it meets the operational requirements and security standards set by the client. Your duties will include identifying hardware, software, and external service cost estimates, as well as resource requirements. You will inform stakeholders about the strategy for deploying new implementations and maintaining existing equipment. Compliance with incident, problem, and change management procedures is essential, and you will execute ticket-based requests with minimal assistance. You will also participate in and manage technical project review meetings to ensure that technical designs align with client needs. In this role, you will develop a technology roadmap based on established client priorities to meet strategic engineering goals, including Enterprise Architecture, Quality Assurance, and Operations Support. You will improve infrastructure operations through better monitoring, cloud coding, and scripting best practices. Additionally, you will deliver fully functioning network services with secure access points between the client environment and the commercial service provider environment. Your understanding of software development and Agile best practices will be crucial for work coordination, acceptance criteria, and deployment management. You will lead the development of technical artifacts such as Implementation Plans, System Administration Guides, and System Security Plans. Automating infrastructure migration to cloud environments and supporting security engineering efforts, including perimeter security and firewall configuration, will also be part of your responsibilities. You will focus on results, quality, and meeting deadlines, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance an enterprise cloud environment servicing over 10,000 users.
  • Assist in the engineering, development, and administration of a federal enterprise cloud system.
  • Identify hardware, software, and external service cost estimates and resource requirements.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Top Secret DoD Clearance required; may consider highly qualified DoD Secret Clearance holders.
  • At least 3 years of technology consulting or relevant industry experience.
  • Prior professional experience in IT Strategy, IT Business Management, Cloud & Infrastructure, or Systems Engineering.
  • Experience working independently with minimal supervision and guidance.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with mature judgment.
  • Proven experience effectively prioritizing workload to meet deadlines and objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clearly and succinctly for a wide audience.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation creation tools.

  • Certifications such as Google Associate Cloud Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect - Associate, Azure MCSA: Cloud Platform, VMware VCP Data Center Virtualization.
