About the position

The Azure Cloud Engineer (SRE) role at Thomson Reuters involves managing and optimizing Azure cloud infrastructure to support applications within the Legal and Risk/Fraud segments. The position focuses on provisioning Azure resources, administering identity and access management, monitoring cloud resources, overseeing security measures, and providing technical support. The engineer will also act as a Subject Matter Expert, collaborate with various teams, and drive improvements in system performance and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Provision Azure resources by deploying and maintaining IaaS, PaaS, and other server software.
  • Administer identity and access management leveraging Least Privileged Access approach.
  • Monitor and maintain Azure resources, setting monitoring thresholds and alerts.
  • Oversee cloud security and threat management, including managing Cisco firewalls and VPNs.
  • Manage and monitor backup and recovery systems, facilitating disaster recovery exercises.
  • Act as a product Subject Matter Expert (SME) with other teams and product customers.
  • Create and manage storage accounts, monitoring data utilization and performance.
  • Proactively monitor system performance and respond to alerts to meet high availability goals.
  • Document system designs and operational procedures, ensuring they are up-to-date.
  • Participate in the evaluation of emerging technologies and tools, recommending innovative solutions.
  • Leverage AI/ML technologies to enhance automation and optimize workflows.
  • Implement security measures and compliance protocols to safeguard systems and data.
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support, collaborating with software development and QA teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required, preferably in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of relevant experience in software development and/or technology infrastructure and operations.
  • Experience managing Azure cloud infrastructure services, including Azure Active Directory and RBAC.
  • Knowledge of Azure networking, including site-to-site VPN, subnetting, and DNS.
  • Experience with Azure storage accounts, disk performance, and encryption.
  • Strong understanding of Azure resource utilization, baselines, alerts, and metrics.
  • Familiarity with Azure authentication technologies, including SAML.
  • Experience with Azure security safeguards and controls.
  • Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server in Azure.
  • Strong skills in deploying and automating VM creation in a high-availability environment.
  • Ability to react effectively to daily threats from various sources.
  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills to manage multiple priorities and resolve conflicts.
  • Proven analytical problem-solving skills and adaptability to change.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience with Datadog and cloud audit trails.
