The Azure Cloud Support Engineer will play a critical role in ensuring the stability and performance of our client's Azure infrastructure. This position is based in Richmond, VA, and is a contract role focused on providing support for production incidents and outages. The engineer will be responsible for responding to incidents, conducting root cause analyses, and implementing preventive measures to avoid future occurrences. A key aspect of this role involves maintaining and optimizing Azure infrastructure, which includes monitoring system health, performance, and security, as well as managing backup and disaster recovery solutions. In addition to incident management, the Azure Cloud Support Engineer will be tasked with automating routine tasks and creating self-healing systems. This requires a strong understanding of scripting languages such as Bash and PowerShell, as well as experience with Terraform for infrastructure management. The engineer will collaborate closely with development teams to enhance application performance and scalability, ensuring that Azure resources are utilized efficiently and cost-effectively through FinOps practices. The role also involves mentoring junior team members, documenting processes and configurations, and staying updated with the latest Azure features and best practices. The engineer will support Cloud Operations and must have experience working with IT teams that utilize Azure from a platform perspective, including the use of Azure marketplace tools. This position is ideal for someone with a deep knowledge of Azure services and architecture, as well as a strong background in incident management and troubleshooting within the Azure environment.
