About the position

The Azure Data Engineer will lead and execute cloud migration projects from on-premises SQL Server to Azure SQL, ensuring a smooth transition with minimal downtime. This role involves implementing best practices for database security and compliance, designing and developing Power BI reports, and collaborating with data engineers and analysts to transform data for reporting purposes. The position requires a strong understanding of data modeling, visualization concepts, and proficiency in SQL and Power BI development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute cloud migration projects from On-prem SQL Server to Azure SQL.
• Implement best practices for database security and compliance with data privacy regulations.
• Design and develop Power BI reports and dashboards to meet business stakeholders' needs.
• Develop and implement custom solutions using Power Apps and Power Automate.
• Gather and understand business requirements for data visualization and analysis.
• Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to acquire, clean, and transform data for reporting purposes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in Power BI reports.
• Provide training and support to end users on using Power BI.
• Keep up to date with the latest Power BI features and trends.
• Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• Implement and maintain robust monitoring solutions for database health.
• Conduct regular health checks, capacity planning, and upgrade/migration activities.
• Perform essential database administration tasks including installation, configuration, monitoring, tuning, backup, recovery, and troubleshooting.
• Innovate and implement automation solutions for routine tasks.
• Design, implement, and maintain SQL and Azure database solutions.
• Design, develop, and enhance ETL processes using Azure Data Factory.
• Collaborate with teams to optimize and streamline data transformation pipelines.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, standards, and procedures.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Power BI development, including report and dashboard creation.
• Strong understanding of data modeling and data visualization concepts.
• Experience with SQL for data manipulation and extraction.
• Knowledge of Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) for creating calculations.
• Familiarity with data warehouse concepts.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Adaptability to changing business requirements.

Nice-to-haves

• Power BI certifications are a plus.
