About the position

The Azure Infrastructure Application Engineer will be responsible for assessing, building, and maintaining Azure infrastructure to support the deployment of new and existing applications. This role involves designing, implementing, and monitoring the Azure environment, ensuring connectivity with other systems, and engaging in application configuration to facilitate successful software deployment and development. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement highly available, performance-driven infrastructure on Microsoft Azure.
• Monitor and maintain the health of the Azure environment.
• Manage and optimize Azure resources to ensure high availability and performance.
• Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
• Collaborate with development teams to support application deployment and integration.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Azure infrastructure.
• Perform regular backups and plan for disaster recovery.
• Provide technical guidance and support to team members.
• Develop and maintain documentation for Azure infrastructure and processes.
• Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning.
• Implement and manage Azure networking components.
• Ensure cost optimization of Azure resources.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using approved tools for automated platform deployments.
• Design and develop connection strategies for integration between cloud-based applications.
• Focus on DevOps processes to enhance repeatability and sustainability across deployments and solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management.
• 3+ years of experience with Azure cloud services.
• Strong understanding of Azure architecture and services.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
• Experience with databases such as SQL Server or SQL Azure.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
• Knowledge of networking concepts and Azure networking components.
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Azure Monitor.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Self-starter with initiative to seek clarity and understanding without waiting for direction.
• Experience with DevOps practices and tools.
• Familiarity with security best practices and compliance standards.
• Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Snowflake and Databricks.
• Prior experience with the installation and maintenance of ESRI's ArcGIS software.
• Relevant Azure certifications.
