About the position

As an Azure Software Engineer I at Penske Truck Leasing, you will engage in the full Azure Software Development lifecycle, supporting existing development efforts and troubleshooting issues while also creating new software modules across various projects. This role offers the chance to lead the design of software components and propose new products and features based on industry trends. You will collaborate with process owners to develop systems that meet user requirements and mentor junior engineers within a diverse team.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all aspects of the Software Development lifecycle by supporting existing software development efforts and developing new software modules.
• Lead the design of certain software components and suggest new products, applications, and features based on industry trends.
• Consult with process owners to review, interpret, and develop systems according to user requirements.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest Azure technologies and best practices to improve cloud application capabilities.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to understand business requirements and translate them into cloud solutions.
• Act as the primary contact for multiple application modules, resolving customer issues in a timely manner.
• Develop, maintain, test, analyze performance, and troubleshoot applications and code.
• Delegate tasks and review code from junior developers.
• Conduct new hire interviews.
• Produce clean, well-documented, and maintainable code adhering to coding standards.
• Design backend database schemas and write complex SQL statements.
• Write unit/UI tests and leverage CI/CD for building and deploying code.
• Triage production issues and collaborate with multiple teams for problem analysis.
• Influence the decision-making process regarding changes to standards and technology.
• Support the business by responding to user questions and concerns regarding technical feasibility and implementation strategies.
• Implement best practices for cloud application security, compliance, and governance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of Development Experience in Java.
• 3+ years of experience in developing cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure.
• Proficiency in Azure Cognitive Services, AI/ML, and Azure services such as Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, and Azure SQL Database.
• Experience with Java development and deployment in OpenShift/Kubernetes environments.
• Strong understanding of cloud application architecture and design principles.
• Knowledge of Machine Learning and Data Science concepts.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and communication abilities.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Python programming.
• Knowledge of Agile software development methodology.
• Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).
• Create and maintain Angular websites integrated with backend services.
• Responsive/Adaptive design experience (Desktop and Mobile).
• Familiarity with Typescript, HTML/HTML5, CSS, Javascript, NodeJS, Swagger, Postman, Gulp, Maven, GIT, BitBucket, JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo, Artifactory, UML, Splunk, or Elastic.
