About the position

As a Penske Azure Cloud Developer, you will engage in all aspects of the Azure Software Development lifecycle, supporting existing development efforts and troubleshooting issues while developing new software modules across multiple projects. This role offers the opportunity to lead the design of software components and suggest new products and features based on industry trends. You will collaborate with process owners to develop systems according to user requirements and mentor junior software engineers.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all aspects of the Software Development lifecycle.
• Support existing software development efforts and develop new software modules.
• Lead the design of certain software components.
• Consult with process owners to review and develop systems according to user requirements.
• Mentor junior software engineers.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest Azure technologies and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to understand business requirements and translate them into cloud solutions.
• Act as the primary contact for multiple application modules, resolving customer issues in a timely manner.
• Develop, maintain, test, and analyze performance of applications and code.
• Delegate tasks and review code from junior developers.
• Conduct new hire interviews.
• Produce clean, well-documented, and maintainable code adhering to coding standards.
• Design backend database schemas and write complex SQL statements.
• Write unit/UI tests and leverage CI/CD for building and deploying code.
• Triage production issues and perform problem analysis with multiple teams.
• Influence the discovery and decision-making process for changes to standards and technology.
• Respond to user questions and concerns regarding technical feasibility and implementation strategies.
• Implement best practices for cloud application security, compliance, and governance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of Development Experience in Java.
• 3+ years of experience in developing cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure.
• Proficiency in Azure Cognitive Services, AI/ML, and Azure services such as Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, Azure SQL Database.
• Experience with Java development and deployment in OpenShift/Kubernetes environments.
• Strong understanding of cloud application architecture and design principles.
• Knowledge of Machine Learning and Data Science concepts.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and communication abilities.
• Ability to research emerging cloud development frameworks and tools.

Nice-to-haves

• Python programming experience.
• Knowledge of Agile software development methodology.
• Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).
• Create and maintain Angular websites integrated with backend services.
• Responsive/Adaptive design experience (Desktop and Mobile).
• Familiarity with Typescript, HTML/HTML5, CSS, Javascript.
• Experience with NodeJS, Swagger, Postman, Gulp, Maven, GIT, BitBucket, JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo, Artifactory.
• Knowledge of UML, Splunk, Elastic Search.
