About the position

The Azure Technical Lead will play a crucial role in supporting the Cloud Platform team at Fisher Investments. This position involves mentoring and guiding a team of cloud engineers in the design, implementation, and management of Azure-based cloud infrastructure. The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, process improvement, and the adoption of new technologies to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Guide, mentor, and manage a team of cloud engineers fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Conduct regular team meetings for architecture/design reviews, code reviews, cross-team collaboration opportunities, and training sessions.
  • Aid in designing and managing scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure and automation tooling for routine operation tasks.
  • Oversee the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of Azure resources.
  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of the Azure environment through proactive monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Manage cloud costs and optimize resource usage to achieve cost efficiency.
  • Work with solution architects and partners to confirm developed solutions align with existing standards and meet security controls.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and the adoption of new technologies to enhance the Azure cloud environment.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Azure features, tools, and best practices, and disseminate this knowledge to the team.
  • Investigate and monitor current-state cloud usage, solutions in use, risks, gaps, limitations and recommend solutions, optimizations and remediation.
  • Ensure cloud services and toolsets are deployed with best practices and documentation.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in IT Infrastructure across platform technology areas, with implementing and maintaining expertise.
  • 5 years of experience building, deploying and managing public cloud IaaS and PaaS services.
  • Experience building an automated cloud infrastructure across Prod and Non-Prod environments.
  • Scripting and automation of builds, workflows, tasks and other integration aspects.
  • Linux and Microsoft Windows server administration.
  • Configuration management, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) toolsets including Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, and Chef.
