About the position

The New Jersey Institute for Disabilities (NJID) is seeking Direct Support Professionals, Group Home Managers, Assistant Managers, and Licensed Practical Nurses to provide support to residents with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. This role involves assisting with daily living activities, medication administration, and facilitating recreational and community activities. The position offers various work schedules, including full-time and part-time options, with training provided for all roles.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and supervise in activities of daily living skills
  • Administer or assist with prescribed medication
  • Light housekeeping
  • Assist with transportation
  • Assist in the implementation of individual goals and objectives
  • Data entry using Therap (EHR)
  • Assist residents in the pursuit of recreational, social, and community activities based on their preferences and individual plans
  • Supervise all aspects of the group home
  • Plan and conduct staff meetings and trainings
  • Conduct interviews and observations, provide feedback, and complete employee evaluations
  • Share on-call responsibilities with the group home Assistant Manager
  • Uphold agency and licensing regulations
  • Responsible for creating staff scheduling
  • Assist with scheduling doctor's appointments
  • Responsible for program and client finances

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A valid driver's license in good standing and must be insurable through NJID's automobile insurance
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience as a supervisor and working with people with disabilities (for Group Home Manager and Assistant Manager)
  • Bachelor's degree preferred (for Group Home Manager and Assistant Manager)
  • Strong organizational skills
