About the position

The Outside Sales Representative role at SMS is designed for energetic individuals with a background in business ownership or sales. This position offers an opportunity to work with a leading business development firm, focusing on local sales appointments and building relationships with small to medium-sized business owners.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing for appointments received from assistant the day prior, with all travel being local and typically within a 20-mile radius of home.
  • Directing 3-4 sales appointments daily with owners of small to medium-sized businesses to market and secure Business Analysts a Survey Agreement.
  • Contacting the Business Coordinator with feedback from appointments and sharing new business lead opportunities.
  • Reviewing the day's successes and challenges with the Sales Manager and gaining sales support as appropriate.

Requirements

  • At least three years of business ownership experience and/or three years of face-to-face direct sales experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not necessary; relevant experience will be considered over a degree.
  • Highly self-motivated and self-disciplined with the ability to work effectively with little or no supervision.
  • Outgoing personality with expertise in developing relationships, particularly with business owners, presidents, and CEOs.
  • Good communicator with excellent listening skills and the ability to uncover the real 'pain' a client might be experiencing.
  • Ability to begin work immediately.
