About The Position

RAND Corporation is seeking motivated Bachelor's Level Research Assistants to engage in various research areas such as health, education, national security, and public policy. The role involves working within multi-disciplinary teams to address complex policy issues, contributing to both qualitative and quantitative research efforts. This is a term position lasting up to three years, starting in summer 2025, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis until January 10, 2025.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in sociology, psychology, education policy, health policy, research methods, public policy, or a related field.
• Excellent research and analysis skills demonstrated through coursework or work experience.
• Solid qualitative research skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Strong writing skills and the ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Ability to work independently with little supervision and take initiative.

Nice To Haves

• Research assistant experience in an academic or research-oriented organization.
• Experience conducting qualitative interviews and using qualitative data analysis software (e.g., NVivo, ATLAS.ti, Dedoose).
• Proficiency in Mandarin or Russian.
• U.S. government security clearance.
• Military experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
• Perform literature reviews and site visits.
• Design survey instruments and take notes during research activities.
• Prepare draft documents and presentations for project teams.
• Coordinate work among project team members.
• Travel with project teams as needed and contribute to reports and articles.
