About the position

The Back Counter Parts Advisor at Marin Subaru is responsible for coordinating parts for vehicle service and repair, ensuring excellent customer service, and managing the parts sales process. This role requires a passion for cars and a commitment to delivering a premium brand experience in a fast-paced, supportive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the parts sales process from start to finish
  • Work with service technicians and advisors to coordinate parts for vehicle repair and service
  • Communicate with staff and customers in a friendly and professional manner
  • Converse effectively/efficiently regarding customer parts status
  • Read and understand the parts catalog when looking up and speaking to specific parts
  • Answer phone calls, provide price quotes and other information to customers
  • Handle orders and requests for parts efficiently and accurately
  • Answer questions and assist customers in identifying and obtaining needed parts
  • Ensure parts are charged to repair orders and invoices
  • Pull/fill orders from stock and maintain weekly bin checks to ensure accuracy of stock
  • Notify parts manager of out-of-stock parts or shop materials that need immediate attention
  • Locate out-of-stock parts from outside sources and submit an emergency order, if necessary
  • Continue knowledge of Subaru products and services by training on-the-job and participating in educational and development programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Automotive background required
  • Subaru experience preferred
  • Must be able to work assigned scheduled hours
  • Prior parts counterperson and/or dealership experience needed
  • Car enthusiast or mechanically inclined
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional appearance and great work ethic are a must
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and organize work in a fast-paced work environment
  • Computer proficient (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of dealership management systems, ADP/CDK a plus
