About the position

The Software Engineer position at 540 involves enhancing integration and web-based capabilities for the Air Force, specifically for aircraft maintainers and support personnel. The role focuses on developing modern, cloud-based architectures and microservices to improve data transformation and reliability, ultimately supporting various Air Force Enterprise data systems. The position primarily entails backend/API/integration development, with potential future opportunities for full-stack development.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy microservices that facilitate the sharing of maintenance and financial data across the Air Force.
• Support the development, testing, and deployment of cloud-based applications.
• Engage with stakeholders and clients to gather requirements and provide updates on project progress.
• Utilize modern development technologies and cloud services to deliver new solutions.
• Explain technical tasks to functional team members.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software development experience.
• 2+ years of experience developing Java / Spring Boot applications.
• Experience with cloud-based architectures, preferably Azure.
• Experience developing microservices for deployment in Kubernetes or similar platforms.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• JavaScript / Typescript experience, Angular / React.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• RESTful API design and development experience.
• Familiarity with security requirements for handling sensitive and classified information.
• Experience writing unit and end-to-end tests.
• Familiarity with Git repositories.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
