About the position

The Back Office Technician at Acuity Eye Group is responsible for a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties within an ophthalmology clinic. This role involves preparing patients for examinations, assisting optical professionals in providing treatment, and ensuring a positive and professional environment for patients. The technician will perform essential functions such as documenting patient information, conducting various eye tests, and maintaining compliance with health regulations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examination and assist doctors in providing treatment.
• Collect and document the patient's chief complaint and medical history.
• Verify and document medications the patient is taking.
• Obtain and ensure patients read and sign consent forms.
• Perform refractions and administer basic visual acuity assessments.
• Conduct intraocular pressure tests and take fundus photos.
• Administer visual field tests and perform fluorescein angiogram procedures.
• Administer topical ophthalmic and dilation medications to patients.
• Maintain clean, sterile, and stocked exam rooms.
• Provide written instructions and patient education materials for home review.
• Ensure accurate documentation of ocular examinations and maintain patient flow.
• File patient forms and update information in the CareCloud/EMR system.
• Drive patients in a company-provided vehicle if required by the clinic.
• Maintain compliance with State, Federal, and other regulations.

Requirements

• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent education.
• Valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
• Ability to travel to other clinics as assigned.
• Experience in the Ophthalmic or Optometric Industry (desirable).
• Experience as a Back Office Technician (desirable).
• Certified Ophthalmic Technician or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (preferred).
