About the position

The Back Plant Operator is the backbone of our operation as it is their responsibility to perform various hands-on tasks required for operation of the plant. These tasks include, but are not limited to, charging the feed hoppers, maintaining the correct levels of refuse fuel in the boiler hoppers, mixing and leveling the refuse in the pit and observing the tipping of delivery trucks for unacceptable and hazardous waste. Team member will also perform routine inspections of the overhead cranes and grapples to ensure the integrity of the equipment and perform routine housekeeping duties as assigned. Employee will work under the direction of the Shift Supervisor, however during emergencies or unusual situations, the Back Plant Operator will be responsible for taking appropriate action on his own initiative to prevent equipment damage or personnel injury. Operate equipment, record data, report equipment malfunctions or trends which indicate possible trouble and perform action as directed to correct abnormal operating conditions or emergency situations. This position is a 12 hour rotating schedule which includes built in overtime, including nights, weekends and holidays. Actual work hours equate to working only 14 days or nights per month with a 6 day consecutive break. What other job offers almost 1 week off per month without having to use Paid Time Off?

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • General mechanical aptitude
  • Ability and dexterity to use hand and power tools
  • Basic understanding and experience in operating heavy equipment
  • Comply with all health and safety policies, procedures and regulations
