About the position
The Backend Developer role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing scalable backend software solutions using Python and Node.js. This position is part of a fully funded startup and requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to translate ideas into well-defined features. The developer will contribute to the full software development lifecycle and ensure best practices in software development are followed.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize scalable backend software solutions for the platform.
- Collaborate with cross-platform team members to translate ideas and goals into well-defined features and implementations.
- Contribute to the full software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure best practices for software development.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay current with new software engineering techniques and emerging technologies to apply to development.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in one or more languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python) and frameworks (e.g., Node.js).
- Experience in backend development and API development (e.g., REST, GraphQL).
- Proficiency with modern software development tools and version control systems (e.g., Git, Atlassian).
- Strong knowledge of software development best practices, including unit testing and CI/CD.
- Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and containerization (e.g., Docker).
- Experience with FDA regulatory requirements (e.g., 510K), and data security/privacy regulations (e.g. HIPAA) is strongly desired.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with medical image processing and algorithm development.
- Ability to organize, visualize, and analyze big data to interpret and present insights.
- Fundamentals of machine learning and statistical analytics.
- Experience with database management and querying (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
- Experience in an early-stage startup.
