About the position

The Backend Developer role focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing scalable backend software solutions using Python and Node.js. This position is part of a fully funded startup and requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to translate ideas into well-defined features. The developer will contribute to the full software development lifecycle and ensure best practices in software development are followed.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize scalable backend software solutions for the platform.
• Collaborate with cross-platform team members to translate ideas and goals into well-defined features and implementations.
• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure best practices for software development.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Stay current with new software engineering techniques and emerging technologies to apply to development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in one or more languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python) and frameworks (e.g., Node.js).
• Experience in backend development and API development (e.g., REST, GraphQL).
• Proficiency with modern software development tools and version control systems (e.g., Git, Atlassian).
• Strong knowledge of software development best practices, including unit testing and CI/CD.
• Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and containerization (e.g., Docker).
• Experience with FDA regulatory requirements (e.g., 510K), and data security/privacy regulations (e.g. HIPAA) is strongly desired.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with medical image processing and algorithm development.
• Ability to organize, visualize, and analyze big data to interpret and present insights.
• Fundamentals of machine learning and statistical analytics.
• Experience with database management and querying (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
• Experience in an early-stage startup.
