About the position

As a Backend Developer at IBM, you will play a crucial role in enhancing and innovating features for a classified ISR data and analytics service. This position involves improving algorithm performance, ensuring data quality, and integrating new datasets to enable advanced analytics. You will work closely with clients, stakeholders, and military personnel to ensure alignment with their needs and to drive future innovations in a polyglot database environment.

Responsibilities

  • Improve algorithm performance and data quality.
  • Incorporate new datasets and enable new analytics.
  • Maintain a polyglot database environment.
  • Extend event-driven micro-services and integrate new technologies.
  • Interface with clients, stakeholders, military personnel, and data providers to ensure stakeholder buy-in.

Requirements

  • US Citizen with active TS/SCI clearance or immediate eligibility according to JPAS security database.
  • 2+ years of Python programming experience.
  • 2+ years of experience architecting, designing, or programming applications in hybrid cloud or on-prem environments.
  • Experience with NoSQL database technology.
  • Experience with custom ETL development.
  • Experience with designing algorithms to infer relationships between events or entities.
  • Experience with designing validation and diagnostic approaches for data quality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience coding in operational military or intelligence networks.
  • Experience with MongoDB management and optimization.
  • Experience with Celery or similar asynchronous task queue technologies.
  • Experience with algorithmic development for merging and standardizing data sources.
  • Skills in implementing and customizing ElasticSearch for text search.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools like Azure DevOps or Jenkins.
  • Experience with gathering operational and intelligence data from classified DoD systems.
  • Experience with national or military intelligence capabilities.
  • Experience with transitioning on-prem capabilities to cloud environments.
  • Experience with natural language processing (NLP) techniques.
  • Data visualization experience using JavaScript frameworks like Chart.js or D3.js.
  • Experience with MVC frameworks such as React.js and Node.js.
