About the position

The Backend Developer role at Deloitte focuses on designing and developing robust, scalable web applications using Java and related technologies. Responsibilities

  • Design and develop robust, scalable, and high-performance web applications using Java and related technologies.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards in web application development.
  • Architect and implement microservices, ensuring efficient API design, versioning, and service integration.
  • Utilize API gateways like Apigee to manage and secure APIs effectively.
  • Apply strong understanding of Object-Oriented Principles to develop maintainable and reusable code.
  • Implement Java code standards, design patterns, and best practices in all development activities.
  • Develop and maintain applications using Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA, and REST/SOAP services.
  • Leverage AWS services such as Lambda, SES, SNS, S3, CloudWatch, and CloudFront to enhance application functionality and performance.
  • Effectively communicate business requirements and technical criteria to stakeholders and development teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and clarity on project goals and deliverables.
  • Lead and mentor development teams, providing guidance and coaching to team members.
  • Apply Agile methodologies and best practices to manage project timelines, deliverables, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development.
  • 3+ years of experience in Spring, Spring Boot, Java API, REST, Java, and Java Microservices development.
  • Ability to work at the client site in Austin, Texas 3 days a week.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous consulting experience.
  • AWS Serverless and AWS Lambda experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in software development.
