Backend Engineer II , Core Infrastructure

About the position

The position involves designing, developing, and deploying backend services that are scalable, highly available, and easy to extend. The role is part of a team that builds tools for deploying containers to Kubernetes and GKE, primarily using Golang, Python, and Java. The team aims to enable Spotify developers to deliver products efficiently and reliably by minimizing deployment efforts and operational burdens.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy backend services that scale and are highly available.
• Build and operate infrastructure, user tooling, and deployment pipelines.
• Collaborate closely with other specialists in an autonomous, cross-functional team.
• Take operational responsibility for the services owned by the team, including participating in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 3+ years of proven experience working as a backend engineer.
• Experience in designing, analyzing, optimizing code, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency in writing distributed, high-performance services in Golang or Python.
• Strong problem-solving approach and effective communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Kubernetes and GKE.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies.
