About the position

As the Backend Engineering Manager for Content E-commerce at TikTok, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our e-commerce platform. This position involves building and managing a high-performing backend tech team in the US, focusing on the development of innovative solutions that enhance the content ecosystem for e-commerce. You will be responsible for designing the architecture of technical solutions and providing essential technical support to engineers within your team. Your leadership will be crucial in aligning the team's objectives with product goals and coordinating with cross-functional teams to deliver key results that drive the business forward. In this role, you will define the long-term technical roadmap for the team, ensuring that the backend systems are robust, scalable, and capable of supporting the growing demands of our e-commerce initiatives. You will contribute to critical technical decisions on various projects, leveraging your extensive experience in large-scale backend system development. Your ability to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements will be essential as you guide your team in creating solutions that not only meet but exceed user expectations. Responsibilities

  • Build and manage the content consuming backend tech team in the US.
  • Design the architecture of technical solutions and provide technical support for engineers in the team.
  • Align with product and organizational objectives, coordinating with cross-functional teams to deliver key results.
  • Define the long-term technical roadmap for the team.
  • Contribute to technical decisions on projects among the product.

Requirements

  • 2+ years managing or tech-leading a software engineering team.
  • 5+ years of large scale backend system development experience.
  • Experience in Internet live-streaming apps and e-commerce is preferred.
  • Strong business understanding ability and strong technical learning and transfer ability.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, good communication, and teamwork skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with e-commerce platforms and content ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go.
