About the position

The Backend Python Developer position is a contract role requiring 5-8 years of experience in software development, particularly in Python programming. The role focuses on developing enterprise-scale applications within a financial context, emphasizing regulatory reporting and compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Object-Oriented Programming and experience with Agile methodologies, as well as a collaborative mindset to work within a global team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain backend systems using Python with a focus on Object-Oriented Programming.
  • Participate in the Agile development life-cycle, contributing to all phases of software development.
  • Design and implement distributed message systems.
  • Build and integrate RESTful APIs for application functionality.
  • Conduct unit and integration testing, including test automation.
  • Collaborate with global teams to deliver enterprise-scale projects.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software development experience.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Python programming (not just scripting).
  • 3-5 years of experience in Object-Oriented Programming.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of version control systems (e.g., git, svn).
  • Experience with testing methodologies (unit, integration, etc.) and test automation.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Familiarity with regulatory rules and applications in a financial context.
  • Working knowledge of Unix/Linux environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in financial services or regulatory reporting environments.
  • Familiarity with distributed systems design and development.
