The Backup Pricing Specialist serves a critical role in ensuring pricing integrity within the store by maintaining and updating pricing and shelf tag information. This position involves receiving merchandise from outside vendors and assisting with inventory control. The specialist engages with customers, provides efficient checkout services as needed, locates products, and conducts price verifications. Maintaining proficiency regarding transactions and accuracy of tender is essential to this role. Key responsibilities include receiving and verifying price tags using a handheld scanner to ensure proper item pricing, assisting with price corrections in the computer system, and ensuring displays and shelves have accurate pricing and signage. The specialist will also verify and apply price changes from advertisements, check invoices for accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and assess products for damage. Protecting company assets by monitoring back doors and ensuring accurate inventory management is also a vital part of the job. The role requires a friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude, ensuring that customers receive the best service possible while maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure pricing integrity by maintaining and updating pricing and shelf tag information.
  • Receive and verify price tags using a handheld scanner.
  • Assist with price corrections in the computer system as needed.
  • Tear, sort, and hang price tags; ensure displays and shelves have accurate pricing and signage.
  • Verify and apply price changes from advertisements and discontinued clearance items.
  • Maintain computerized pricing maintenance to keep information current.
  • Receive direct store delivery products and check invoices for accuracy.
  • Resolve discrepancies and assess products for damage.
  • Protect company assets by monitoring back doors.
  • Check inventory on trucks, unload products, and ensure accuracy of inventory and associated paperwork.
  • Monitor vendor activity and ensure products are stocked correctly.
  • Ensure correct checkout totals for customers by weighing, keying, and scanning items.
  • Maintain accurate money count in the register at all times.
  • Remain current on tender policies and procedures related to various payment methods.
  • Maintain a friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude by greeting customers and responding to inquiries.
  • Ensure groceries are bagged properly and maintain a clean working environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic knowledge of EPLUM enterprise scale management.
  • Basic knowledge of SAP reporting applications.
  • Basic knowledge of cash register operations and tender policies.
  • Basic mathematical and counting skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to safely operate a pallet jack and read digital equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and partners in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Nice-to-haves
