About the position

We are excited to announce the opening of our brand new location, "It's A Southern Thing: Kitchen & Bar," situated in one of the most vibrant areas of the RTP/Durham region. Our establishment is strategically located off Ellis Road, adjacent to the first Publix in Durham, making it easily accessible for both locals and visitors. With over 3,000 new homes and apartments in the vicinity, along with numerous RTP businesses, we are poised to become a popular dining destination. As the only ABC licensed establishment within a 5-mile radius, we are committed to providing an exceptional dining experience that reflects the rich Southern culture. To ensure our success in this beautiful new space, we are seeking passionate and skilled front-of-house employees, specifically servers and bartenders. We are looking for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are dedicated to delivering outstanding service. Our brunch has quickly gained a reputation as one of the best in Durham, and we need team members who are available to work weekends, as this is a peak time for us. We offer a competitive wage structure for both servers and bartenders, with bartenders receiving a higher hourly rate plus tips. One of the unique aspects of our compensation model is that we provide cash at the end of each shift, eliminating the need for tip pooling or waiting for paycheck disbursements. This means our employees can enjoy the benefits of their hard work immediately, with cash in hand at the end of every shift.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to all guests.
  • Take orders and serve food and beverages in a timely manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dining area and bar.
  • Handle cash transactions and ensure accurate cash handling at the end of shifts.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service and timely food delivery.
  • Assist in setting up and breaking down the dining area before and after service.

Requirements

  • Servers must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Bartenders must have at least 4 years of experience in bartending.
  • Availability to work weekends is mandatory due to high brunch demand.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with guests and team members.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
  • Knowledge of Southern cuisine and beverage pairings.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
