About the position

The Bag Filter Sales Engineer/Lab Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the sales team with bag filter product sales while also conducting water sample testing to determine client needs. This position requires a subject matter expert who is knowledgeable in the engineering aspects of the products offered by Filtra-Systems. The individual will consult and advise clients on their needs and how the company can best service them. The role demands flexibility to transition between client interactions and laboratory environments, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of both the technical and customer service aspects of the business. In this position, the engineer will develop an in-depth understanding of the company's products and customer base by collaborating closely with seasoned staff who will serve as mentors. The engineer will learn to manage the bag filter product proposal process, including quoting and sales, contributing to an annual business of $1.4 million. Additionally, the engineer will acquire skills to support the eCommerce sales process and continuously optimize it. Conducting intensive testing of water samples is a key responsibility, as it helps determine the specific needs of clients and how Filtra-Systems can best meet those needs. The engineer will also interview potential customers to gather information about their requirements, using problem-solving and consulting skills to assist customers in improving their business operations. The role includes supporting the Spare Parts department by responding to client requests and shipping orders, as well as staying updated on emerging trends in the filtration industry. Travel is a component of this role, as the engineer will need to visit customers, attend trade shows, and close deals, which may involve occasional overnight stays. The engineer will lead and participate in trade show seminars related to the products, create and deliver sales presentations, and follow up promptly on new opportunities. Maintaining current sales media and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws are also essential duties. Performance in this role will be measured based on customer satisfaction, and the engineer is expected to take responsibility for their own self-development by engaging in available training opportunities.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Chemical Engineering degree preferred with a desire to work in sales.
  • Minimum of one year relevant experience or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to be self-directed in a lab setting.
  • Good organization and time-management skills.
  • Ability to practice and promote required safety standards.
  • Working knowledge of technical manuals and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to collect data, process forms, and compose reports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
