About the position

The Bakery Clerk at Geisslers Supermarket Inc. is responsible for providing quality customer service by producing bakery goods and related products efficiently while adhering to store policies. This entry-level position requires strong communication skills and attention to detail to meet customer needs and expectations effectively.

Responsibilities

• Greets and waits on customers.
• Slices, packages, and prices bakery products.
• Recognizes and reacts to customer demands.
• Takes bakery stock to storage or shelf areas.
• Keeps all bakery ingredients or merchandise rotated according to store policies and product code dates.
• Prepares all baking products and scratch baking mixtures following department procedures and recipes.
• Assists in finishing layer cakes, pastries, and specialty cakes as necessary.
• Loads and unloads ovens, using proper temperatures and durations to bake goods according to department procedures.
• Assists in building department displays for maximum sales and turnover, maintaining them full.
• Assists in ordering and maintaining inventory control of ingredients and supplies.
• Receives and unloads merchandise, checking product quality, counts, and conditions.
• Takes care of damaged and spoiled products according to department procedures and assists in controlling the level of these goods.
• Maintains shrink logs daily and reacts to excessive shrink.
• Performs price checks as requested.
• Participates in training activities to increase personal skill levels and improve overall department processes and customer service.
• Maintains general housekeeping and a regular sanitation and cleaning program that meets health regulations.
• Provides light supervision and training of other associates when assigned.
