About the position

The Bakery Manager at Brookshire Grocery Company is responsible for overseeing the bakery department, ensuring that baked goods are prepared and displayed according to company standards. This role involves managing bakery personnel, promoting sales and profits, and maintaining high levels of customer service. The manager will also handle inventory management, quality control, and food safety standards while fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure baked goods are prepared and displayed in accordance with Company standards.
  • Oversee bakery personnel and promote department sales and profits.
  • Carry out management responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, and developing partners.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance, reward, and discipline partners.
  • Manage inventory using item management processes to ensure satisfactory in-stock levels.
  • Review profit and loss, sales, shrink, and labor data; provide summaries to upper management.
  • Check inventory on trucks, unload products, and ensure accuracy of inventory and product ordering.
  • Accountable for bakery sales, labor, and meeting financial and profitability objectives.
  • Enforce quality control and food safety standards; ensure proper stocking and rotation of dated products.
  • Inspect baked goods for quality based on aroma, flavor, taste, texture, and color.
  • Plan and determine work priorities for self and department personnel based on logical sequences of events.
  • Assist with all aspects of bakery production including preparing, packaging, labeling, and occasional delivery of baked goods.
  • Use creativity to decorate baked goods and merchandise products through appealing displays.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary working environment by adhering to Company safety procedures.
  • Provide friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude by greeting customers and taking orders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two or more years of related experience in a bakery or grocery store setting.
  • Food Handler Certification required.
  • Manager Food Safety certification required.
  • Advanced knowledge of bakery department operations and scheduling software systems.
  • Ability to lead and motivate others and effectively communicate with customers and partners.
