The Bakery Operator in Training position at Mary Ann's Baking Company is designed for individuals looking to start a career in food manufacturing. This role involves assisting with the operation of equipment and machinery on the Danish/Muffin Line, with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency. Trainees will receive hands-on training and are expected to achieve proficiency within 90 days, with the potential for wage increases based on performance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with running equipment or machinery associated with production and packaging on the Danish/Muffin Line.
  • Maintain a safe workplace by utilizing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout and proper lifting techniques.
  • Rotate to other job tasks regularly as required.
  • Weigh or measure materials, ingredients, or products to ensure conformance to requirements.
  • Test samples of materials or products to ensure compliance with specifications using test equipment.
  • Start assigned equipment to fry, mix, form, bake, and/or package products.
  • Dump or pour specified amounts of materials into machinery or equipment.
  • Monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Examine materials, ingredients, or products visually or with hands to ensure conformance to established standards.
  • Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items, manually or using hoists.
  • Count finished products to determine if product orders are complete.
  • Mark or tag identification on parts.
  • Load and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
  • Record information such as the number of products tested, meter readings, or dates and times of product production.

Requirements

  • Prior work history of practicing and promoting a SAFE work environment.
  • Current High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs unassisted continuously throughout the day.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 50lbs continuously throughout the day.
  • Stand for 8-12 hours per day.
  • Ability to read, listen, and comprehend written instructions in the English language.
  • Ability to communicate (written and verbal) in the English language.
  • Minimum 2 years prior verifiable work experience using manufacturing or mechanical equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1 year+ work experience in a Food Manufacturing environment.
  • Prior work experience with autonomous maintenance on production/packaging equipment.
  • Prior history of workplace reliability.
  • Desire to grow and advance, as demonstrated through prior work experience.
