About the position

The Baldwin High School is seeking a dedicated Grade 9-12 Special Education Science Teacher for the 2024 academic year. This full-time position is focused on providing quality education to students with special needs, ensuring they receive the necessary support and resources to succeed in their science curriculum. The role requires a commitment to professional development and adherence to Hawaii's teaching standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Teach science subjects to students in grades 9-12, adapting lessons to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Collaborate with other educators and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and support as needed.
  • Engage with parents and guardians to discuss student progress and address any concerns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.
  • Valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit upon hire.
  • Completion of a Teacher's Education Program within three years of hire if not already completed.
  • Demonstrated commitment to pursuing Hawaii licensing requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in special education teaching.
  • National Board Certification in teaching.
  • Familiarity with science curriculum for high school students.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $51,835.00 - $72,941.00 annually.
  • $10,000 salary differential for Special Education with Hawaii teaching license.
  • $5,000 salary differential for National Board Certification.
