About the position

The Ballistics Technician II position involves performing tests and measurement tasks within the ballistics department, focusing on the testing of energetic and inert projectiles such as bullets, missiles, and bombs. The role requires technical expertise in setting up tests, monitoring procedures, processing data, and maintaining laboratory equipment, all while ensuring adherence to safety practices and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Read specifications from technical documents and prepare test equipment for ballistics testing.
  • Monitor tests according to specifications, interact with customers as needed, troubleshoot issues, and document all relevant data.
  • Verify, review, and document all pertinent data after test completion, finalizing it for the Program Manager.
  • Maintain the lab by cleaning equipment, keeping calibrated instruments current, and organizing supplies after tests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED; AA or AS or trade school for ballistics testing certificate or military ballistics training strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of ballistics and mechanical principles, with a working knowledge of basic safety practices.
  • Ability to use all standard ballistics equipment and accurately capture necessary data.
  • Basic MS Office skills.
