About the position

The Deposit Originations Agile Product Owner Lead at USAA is responsible for building and maintaining a best-in-class omnichannel account opening experience. This role is crucial in enhancing USAA's account application pull-through rate while ensuring a world-class member experience. The lead will be accountable for risk management components within the Open an Account space, which includes issue management, control testing, process mapping, and ensuring that the modernized application aligns with USAA's risk appetite. The position requires collaboration with various teams, including Digital, Contact Center, Data, IT, and Enterprise partners, to drive decisions and prioritize the work for the Apply for an Account backlog. In this role, the Agile Product Owner Lead will work directly with the Bank agile team to prioritize work that derives business outcomes while delivering on team commitments. The individual will act as the 'voice of the end-user', bringing a data-driven approach to decision-making and impediment removal. The position also involves setting product and value stream direction, ensuring alignment with key stakeholders across the organization, and fostering a culture of transparency and learning. The lead will proactively seek opportunities for testing, learning, continuous improvement, and quality enhancement. The role requires a flexible work environment, with the expectation of being in the office four days a week. The position can be based in various locations, including San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA, or Tampa, FL. However, relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and lead existing and emerging risks stemming from business activities and the job role.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
  • Follow written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.
  • Partner with the Bank agile team to develop, translate, and drive the vision and strategy to key stakeholders and team members on Bank products.
  • Lead the Bank agile team in understanding business requirements for effective Bank product solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from the Bank and IT to determine business needs for implementing strategic objectives and delivering quality solutions.
  • Define and communicate acceptance criteria for output based on business requirements and customer needs.
  • Solve unique problems with broad impact on the business using a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Set and deliver against Bank agile team-level OKRs.
  • Act as the 'voice of the end-user' and proactively seek customer feedback to understand their needs.
  • Own the Bank agile team backlog, including grooming, prioritization, and refinement.
  • Optimize the flow of value by assisting the multi-Bank agile team environment and progressing towards objectives.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for continuous Bank agile team and process improvement.
  • Lead projects with notable risk and complexity, developing the strategy for project execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; OR 4+ years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 8+ years of experience in process improvement, project delivery, business/requirements analysis, or directly related to supported business operations/product line.
  • Knowledge of multiple technical software delivery methodologies (i.e., Agile, Waterfall, SAFe) with a proven track record in product management.
  • Expert experience in analyzing business requirements, process flows, and use cases to streamline business processes in accordance with risk management framework and regulatory requirements.
  • Expert understanding and demonstrated use of Process Engineering methodologies and Change Management practices.
  • Extensive experience with applicable banking regulatory and compliance policies, including knowledge of applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Experience communicating complex ideas and persuading others, often at senior levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • 4+ years' experience building and enhancing account originations systems at financial institutions or FinTechs.
  • 4+ years' relevant Deposits or Payments experience using data-driven tools to optimize member experience and P&L performance.
  • Experience working within a SAFe Agile framework.
  • Experience working with developers executing modern technology stacks (e.g., APIs, Micro Services, Cloud).
  • Demonstrated experience executing against strategic roadmaps, focusing on running and delivering plans to market.
  • Analytical and problem-solving experience, familiarity with building business cases and leading performance.
  • Experience with Human Centered Design approaches to build desirable, feasible, and sustainable experiences that meet customer needs.
