About the position

The Bank Credit Risk Analyst Senior at USAA plays a crucial role in identifying and managing credit risk within consumer credit portfolios. This position utilizes quantitative methods to develop credit strategies, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with operational and regulatory standards. The analyst will collaborate with various teams to enhance credit risk strategies and provide insights to senior management, ultimately contributing to the financial security of military members and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Identify risks and opportunities within the credit portfolio and develop strategic solutions.
  • Synthesize analyses to identify root causes and provide recommendations for credit risk strategy development.
  • Develop and improve analytical frameworks and communicate insights to key partners and leadership.
  • Analyze internal and external data to identify first-party fraud.
  • Advise on credit strategy development using industry knowledge and benchmarking.
  • Conduct complex financial risk sensitivity analysis and reporting for senior management oversight.
  • Build and manage credit strategy infrastructure to ensure proper implementation.
  • Apply advanced programming and analytical techniques to analyze credit data.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to team members in analytics and risk management.
  • Collaborate with partners to guide the development and implementation of key initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a Mathematical field; or 4 years of related experience may substitute for a degree.
  • 6 years of experience in an analytical field or leading analytical projects, or an advanced degree with 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in financial analysis to support risk strategy.
  • Strong understanding of banking regulations, risk, and compliance.
  • Advanced presentation and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in analysis.
  • Advanced research and investigation skills with good judgment in problem-solving.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, SAS, or other business intelligence software.

Nice-to-haves

  • 6+ years of experience with Python, SAS, or SQL for data analysis.
  • Experience in credit risk management for consumer lending products.
  • Familiarity with credit card origination credit strategy or NPV models for consumer lending.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to drive initiatives.
  • US military experience or connection.
