About the position

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Credit Risk Analyst who will utilize quantitative methods to develop and deliver credit line management strategies while monitoring credit strategy performance for consumer credit portfolios. This role is crucial in optimizing profitable growth within our risk appetite. The analyst will be responsible for mitigating operational and compliance risks inherent in credit strategy and will track both internal and external factors that impact credit strategy performance for bank portfolio products. In this senior position, you will apply industry-leading practices and analytical skills to identify risks and opportunities within the managed portfolio. You will translate your findings into strategic solutions that drive credit risk strategy development and influence senior decision-makers. Your role will involve partnering with various teams to deliver Bank credit risk strategies across lines of defense, developing and improving complex analytical frameworks, and clearly communicating insights and recommendations to key stakeholders and leadership. You will analyze internal and external scores and data to identify first-party fraud, apply industry knowledge and competitive benchmarking to inform credit strategy development, and utilize advanced quantitative analysis to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous problems. Additionally, you will develop, manage, and present comprehensive risk and financial reporting to support senior management and committee oversight of existing and emerging risks. This includes designing and performing complex financial risk sensitivity analysis and ensuring that credit strategies are implemented as intended. As a thought leader, you will provide coaching and mentoring to team members regarding analytics and risk management, collaborate with key stakeholders to guide teams in the development and implementation of key initiatives, and utilize analytically derived insights to develop strategic plans that significantly impact business results. You will also ensure that risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver credit line management strategies for consumer credit portfolios.
  • Monitor credit strategy performance to optimize profitable growth within risk appetite.
  • Mitigate operational and compliance risks inherent in credit strategy.
  • Track and monitor internal and external factors impacting credit strategy performance.
  • Identify risks and opportunities within the managed portfolio using analytical skills.
  • Translate analytical results into strategic solutions for credit risk strategies.
  • Communicate insights and recommendations to key stakeholders and leadership.
  • Analyze internal and external scores/data for identifying first-party fraud.
  • Utilize advanced quantitative analysis to address ambiguous problems.
  • Develop and present comprehensive risk and financial reporting for senior management.
  • Design and perform complex financial risk sensitivity analysis.
  • Create and manage credit strategy infrastructure to ensure proper implementation.
  • Provide thought leadership and mentoring to team members regarding analytics and risk management.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate the development and implementation of key initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a Mathematical discipline; OR 4 years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 6 years of experience in an analytical field or work focused on leading analytical projects, advanced analytics, risk assessments, or bank credit risk data; OR an advanced degree in a relevant field and 4 years of experience.
  • Experience in financial analysis activities to support risk strategy.
  • Strong understanding of banking regulations, risk, and/or compliance.
  • Advanced presentation and communication skills.
  • Advanced business acumen and attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Advanced research and investigation skills with good judgment in problem-solving.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced knowledge of data analysis tools including SQL, SAS, or other business intelligence software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SAS, R, Python, and/or other programming/reporting tools.
  • Experience with variable analysis, risk segmentation techniques, and/or A/B testing.
  • Experience in developing credit line management strategies and quantitative risk rules.
  • Experience at large or complex banks/financial institutions.
  • Experience with communicating and presenting sophisticated concepts to executive leadership.
  • US military experience through military service or as a military spouse/domestic partner.
