About the position

The Bank Credit Risk Analyst at USAA is a mid-level role focused on identifying and managing credit risk within consumer credit portfolios. The analyst will utilize quantitative methods to develop credit strategies, monitor performance, and mitigate operational and compliance risks. This position plays a crucial role in optimizing profitable growth while ensuring adherence to risk appetite and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Identify risks and opportunities within the managed portfolio and translate results into strategic solutions.
  • Synthesize analyses to identify root causes and develop recommendations for credit risk strategy development.
  • Deliver Bank credit risk strategies across lines of defense by driving analytical projects and communicating insights to stakeholders.
  • Inform credit strategy development using industry knowledge and competitive benchmarking.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis using internal and external data sources to solve complex problems.
  • Develop and present risk and financial reporting for senior management oversight.
  • Perform complex financial risk sensitivity analysis.
  • Create requirements for managing credit strategy infrastructure and ensure implementation of credit strategies.
  • Analyze credit data using programming and analytical techniques.
  • Support junior team members in analytics and risk management.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to guide teams in developing and implementing key initiatives.
  • Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks associated with business activities in accordance with policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a Mathematical discipline; OR 4+ years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 4+ years of experience in an analytical field focused on leading analytical projects and risk assessments, or an advanced degree with 2+ years of experience.
  • Understanding of banking regulations, risk, and compliance.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Good business acumen and attention to detail.
  • Strong research and investigation skills with good judgment in problem solving.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools including SQL, SAS, and other business intelligence software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Credit Risk Analysis and Quantitative assessment frameworks.
  • High proficiency in SAS and SQL.
  • US military experience through service or as a military spouse/domestic partner.
