About the position

The Credit Risk Analyst at USAA plays a crucial role in identifying and managing credit risk for consumer credit portfolios. This mid-level position utilizes quantitative methods to develop credit strategies, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with banking regulations. The analyst will work collaboratively with various stakeholders to optimize growth within the risk appetite while mitigating operational risks.

Responsibilities

  • Identify risks and opportunities within the managed portfolio and translate results into strategic solutions.
  • Synthesize analyses to identify root causes and develop recommendations for credit risk strategy development.
  • Drive analytical projects and communicate insights to key stakeholders and leadership.
  • Inform credit strategy development using industry knowledge and competitive benchmarking.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis using internal and external data sources to solve complex problems.
  • Develop comprehensive risk and financial reporting for senior management oversight.
  • Perform complex financial risk sensitivity analysis.
  • Create requirements for managing credit strategy infrastructure and ensure implementation.
  • Analyze credit data using programming and analytical techniques.
  • Support junior team members in analytics and risk management.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate the development and implementation of key initiatives.
  • Ensure risks are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled according to policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a Mathematical discipline; OR 4+ years of related experience may substitute for a degree.
  • 4+ years of experience in an analytical field focused on leading analytical projects and risk assessments.
  • Understanding of banking regulations, risk, and compliance.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Good business acumen and attention to detail.
  • Strong research and investigation skills with good judgment in problem-solving.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools including SQL, SAS, and other business intelligence software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Credit Risk Analysis and Quantitative assessment frameworks.
  • High proficiency in SAS and SQL.
  • US military experience or connection through a military spouse/domestic partner.
