About the position

The Banker/Loan Officer at SMW Financial Credit Union is responsible for establishing and strengthening member relationships by acting as a trusted advisor. This role involves identifying sales opportunities, opening and closing accounts, and originating, underwriting, and closing loans. The position emphasizes personal and excellent member service, and the officer will also support frontline staff as needed. The ideal candidate will be part of a dedicated team focused on building strong financial futures for members.

Responsibilities

• Establish and strengthen member relationships as a trusted advisor.
• Identify sales opportunities beneficial to members.
• Open and close accounts for members.
• Originate, underwrite, and close loans.
• Cross-sell products and services to members.
• Provide personal and excellent member service.
• Act as back-up to frontline staff as business needs dictate.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2 years of banking and lending experience
• Proven sales experience
• Previous experience meeting lending goals
• Ability and willingness to work out of the Lino Lakes branch as needed
• Proficient knowledge of MS Office Software
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to problem solve and multitask in a busy environment
• Proven team player
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Microsoft Office (1 year preferred)
