About the position

The Banking Center Operations Specialist plays a crucial dual role within the banking center, providing both Teller and New Account services. This position is essential for delivering high-quality customer service and ensuring a positive banking experience for all customers. The Specialist is responsible for a variety of tasks including opening and closing personal and commercial accounts, maintaining accounts, and processing teller transactions. These transactions encompass cashing checks, receiving and processing deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and balancing the teller cash drawer. Additionally, the Specialist will handle customer inquiries, resolve account-related problems, and provide assistance as needed. A significant aspect of this role involves interacting with customers and employees, necessitating effective communication skills. The accurate and timely processing of transactions and requests in accordance with established teller policies and procedures is vital. The Specialist must be well-versed in the bank's products and services, capable of discussing new account documentation with customers, and proficient in using the Business Process Manager software to open and close accounts. Responsibilities also include ordering checks and debit cards, preparing documentation for new accounts under the Bank's CIP/BSA policies, and executing wire transfers. In the Teller capacity, the Specialist will operate and maintain a cash drawer, process various transactions, and assist customers with product and service inquiries. Balancing the teller drawer daily and verifying the accuracy of posted transactions are critical tasks. The Specialist is expected to promote and cross-sell the bank's products and services, maintain positive relations with all contacts, and comply with all department and company policies and procedures. The role requires a self-starting individual with strong customer relations skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to the bank's vision, mission, and core values.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality customer service and a positive banking experience for all customers.
  • Open and close personal and commercial accounts.
  • Maintain accounts and process teller transactions including cashing checks, receiving deposits, and processing withdrawals.
  • Balance the teller cash drawer and prepare daily general ledger entries.
  • Answer customer inquiries and resolve account-related problems.
  • Promote and cross-sell the bank's products and services.
  • Comply with federal and state regulations as well as established bank policies and procedures.
  • Support and promote the bank's vision, mission, and core values.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of banking experience working in new accounts, as a teller, or in lending.
  • At least six months of cash handling experience.
  • Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to type, use a computer efficiently, and use a 10-key calculator.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to handle large quantities of currency while maintaining accuracy.
  • Good problem-solving skills and solid decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to prioritize and organize work activities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Business Process Manager software.
  • Knowledge of Bank's CIP/BSA policies.
