About the position

The Loan Officer at First National Bank & Trust is responsible for approving loans, meeting with applicants, and analyzing financial information to determine loan feasibility. This role emphasizes building strong relationships with customers and providing outstanding service while promoting bank products and services. The Loan Officer will also handle customer complaints and participate in business development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Approve loans within specified limits and refer applications outside those limits to the Director's Loan Committee.
  • Meet with applicants to obtain information for loan applications and answer questions about the process.
  • Analyze applicants' financial status, credit, and property evaluations to determine feasibility of granting loans.
  • Explain to customers the different types of loans and credit options available, as well as the terms of those services.
  • Obtain and compile copies of loan applicants' credit histories, corporate financial statements, and other financial information.
  • Review loan agreements to ensure they are complete and accurate according to policy.
  • Ensure each loan submitted has the required paperwork, tickets, signatures, etc., to reduce the possibility of loss and assist in efficient processing.
  • Submit applications to credit analysts for verification and recommendation when necessary.
  • Handle customer complaints and take appropriate action to resolve them.
  • Negotiate payment arrangements with customers who have delinquent loans.
  • Market bank products to individuals and firms, promoting bank services that may meet customers' needs.
  • Actively participate in business development by analyzing potential loan markets and developing referral networks.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively build relationships and make instant connections.
  • Strong customer service skills with a high level of empathy and integrity.
  • Ability to analyze financial information and credit evaluations.
  • Experience in banking, preferably 5 years.
