About the position

The Banking Operations Specialist, Associate role at GFG Capital involves providing operational support for various banking functions, including account applications, documentation, and compliance. The position is crucial for ensuring that all processes related to client accounts are handled efficiently and in accordance with regulatory requirements. The specialist will also serve as a primary contact for custodian banks and will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and logs.

Responsibilities

  • Provides operational support regarding new account applications, documentation, imaging, and workflow.
  • Prepares and ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations regarding proper documentation.
  • Supports operational tasks related to wire transfers, asset transfers, and account openings.
  • Prepares and validates account opening documentation against checklists.
  • Monitors daily reports for documentation deficiencies and follows up on issues.
  • Maintains investor records, ensuring proper completion and scanning of documents.
  • Conducts ongoing KYC and AML checks as the KYC coordinator for client accounts.
  • Periodically updates and maintains all account logs and electronic files.
  • Centralizes and controls documentation recordkeeping.
  • Updates client forms (e.g., W-8BEN, W-9) as needed.
  • Maintains the operations log for weekly review with Senior Management.
  • Serves as the main contact with custodian banks and sends welcome letters to clients.
  • Oversees wire transfer processes, including confirmations, inquiries, and compliance with AML regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two to four years of related work experience in the financial services industry.
  • Solid knowledge of documentation processing principles.
  • Outstanding client relations skills.
  • Ability to use independent judgment to ensure documentation is properly processed.
  • Results-oriented and proactive with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Outstanding communications and organizational skills with a great emphasis on attention to detail and follow-up.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and database maintenance.
