About the position

The Banking Services Analyst III in Treasury Operations plays a crucial role in monitoring M&T Bank's account position at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. This position is essential for ensuring the bank's liquidity and operational efficiency, particularly in relation to the Real Time Payments account balance and the account at The Clearing House. The analyst will work closely with Treasury Traders and Treasury Risk Management to maintain a comprehensive understanding of the bank's financial standing and to support various operational tasks related to wire processing as needed. In this role, the analyst will be responsible for developing and producing mid-complexity departmental reports and spreadsheets. This includes conducting project or product strategy analyses, historical reporting, workflow analyses, and financial analyses. The position requires a high level of analytical skills to conduct complex analysis and judgment-based work across multiple disciplines, which is vital for supporting Treasury Risk Managers in their decision-making processes. The analyst will also engage in complex data review, research, and reconciliation for assigned areas, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal and external standards. Additionally, the role involves leading the drafting and editing of procedures related to the Money Desk function, supporting departmental audits, and ensuring compliance with user certifications and testing for Enterprise Wire Transfer. Furthermore, the analyst will support the planning, testing, and implementation of new projects, systems, products, and regulatory changes that impact Enterprise Wire Transfer and internal business partners. This includes providing departmental system support and coordinating with internal business partners, external vendors, and Technology to address any issues that arise. The analyst will also be expected to maintain M&T's internal control standards and promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring M&T Bank position at Federal Reserve and The Clearing House
  • Develop and produce mid-complexity departmental reports and spreadsheets, including project or product strategy analyses, historical reporting, workflow analyses and financial analyses
  • Conduct complex analysis and judgment-based work over multiple disciplines to support Treasury Risk Managers
  • Conduct complex data review, research, and/or reconciliation for assigned areas
  • Lead the drafting and/or editing of procedures related to the Money Desk function
  • Support provided for departmental audits including user certifications and compliance testing for Enterprise Wire Transfer
  • Support planning, testing, and implementing of new projects, systems, products, and regulatory changes impacting Enterprise Wire Transfer and internal business partners
  • Departmental system support, coordinating with internal business partners, external vendors, and Technology to address issues for Enterprise Wire Transfer
  • Provide functional system knowledge to colleagues within one or more functional areas of Deposit & Payment Services
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite
  • Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable
  • Complete other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years' related experience
  • OR in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years' related experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
