About the position

The Bankruptcy Paralegal will support the legal team at Rivera-Aguilar Law Firm by managing bankruptcy cases, preparing legal documents, and facilitating communication between clients and the court. This part-time role requires a strong understanding of chapter 7 and chapter 13 consumer bankruptcy, along with proficiency in legal drafting and case management.

Responsibilities

• Assist attorney with case management, court filings, gather required documents and organize files
• Prepare cases, e-file petitions in bankruptcy court, and serve legal documents
• Coordinate communication between clients, trustees, courts, and attorney
• Maintain electronic case files and ensure all documents are filed correctly
• Assist in drafting legal correspondence and bankruptcy petitions
• Conduct client intake, legal research and analysis
• Communicate with clients to provide case status and address client concerns

Requirements

• Bilingual in Spanish
• Proficiency with Bestcase/Stretto, Clio Legal Management software
• At least two years of consumer bankruptcy experience
• Strong knowledge of bankruptcy laws, court procedures and documentation requirements
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Proficient research skills
• High level of accuracy with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently
• Knowledge and experience with using Microsoft Office365, Outlook, Zoom, Adobe, and Teams

Nice-to-haves

• 1 year of experience with Microsoft Office
• Experience in legal drafting
