About the position

The Banner Programmer Analyst at La Sierra University is a critical role that requires hands-on expertise with Banner systems, specifically in areas such as Banner Job Submission, data imports and exports, and the development of baseline and modified C Programs. The position demands a deep understanding of functional business processes across various modules including Finance, Student, Admissions, and Financial Aid. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving issues within the Banner system, as well as developing and processing data files and API imports/exports between Banner and non-Banner systems. This role operates within a hybrid work environment, with standard hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, although flexibility may be required. In this position, the analyst will gather requirements to propose technical solutions, followed by analysis, design, data modeling, coding, implementation, testing, and documentation. The role also involves supporting the configuration and technical functionality of Banner across its various modules. The analyst will leverage their extensive experience to quickly learn and adapt to additional Banner modules, such as the Experience Portal. Furthermore, the analyst will work closely with both technical and non-technical users to define requirements, resolve issues, and create advanced PL/SQL programs to manipulate data effectively. The position also entails creating, developing, troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining current data integrations between Banner and third-party applications.

Responsibilities

  • Gather requirements necessary for proposing technical solutions, followed by analysis, design, data modeling, coding, implementation, testing, and documentation.
  • Support the configuration and technical functionality of Banner (Student, Finance, Financial Aid, and Admissions).
  • Quickly learn and adapt to additional or other Banner modules (e.g., Experience Portal).
  • Diagnose, provide technical assistance, and resolve problems in the maintenance and support of Banner.
  • Analyze existing business processes and related applications to realize efficiencies.
  • Work closely with technical and non-technical users to define requirements, resolve issues, and create advanced PL/SQL programs to manipulate data.
  • Create, develop, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain current data integrations between Banner and third-party applications.

Requirements

  • Technical experience programming in Banner 8 & 9.
  • Ellucian product knowledge of Degree Works, Workflow, ESM, CPoS, EIS, Recruit, Advise, and 3rd Party Application integration.
  • Oracle database developer expertise including designing, developing, and tuning Oracle PL/SQL (packages, procedures, functions, and triggers).
  • Experience with RESTful API development.
  • Experience consulting with end-users and gathering requirements needed to create business and functional program or reporting specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of data integration techniques.
  • Expertise leveraging delivered application APIs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Banner® 9 by Ellucian® Extensibility solutions (Page Builder, Theme Editor, CPC, Text Manager and the DET).
  • Experience with Oracle and other SQL databases to construct reports using Excel, Argos, Forms Fusion, and other reporting tools.
