About the position

The Banquet and Events Manager at Intercontinental St. Paul Riverfront is responsible for overseeing the Banquets department, ensuring the successful execution of various events such as weddings, fundraisers, and meetings. This hands-on role involves supervising banquet staff, managing event logistics, and maintaining high standards of customer service and satisfaction. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including weekend work, to meet the demands of the events.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all Banquet staff including Servers, Bartenders, Set-up crew, and Banquet Captain(s).
  • Assist in managing departmental inventories and assets, including par levels and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintain attendance logs for banquet employees and enforce established sanitation levels.
  • Ensure employee awareness of event phases and guest satisfaction scores.
  • Schedule banquet service staff to forecast and service standards while maximizing profits.
  • Lead shifts and actively participate in the servicing of events.
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
  • Respond to and handle guest problems and complaints, striving to improve service performance.
  • Communicate and execute departmental and property emergency procedures, ensuring staff are trained in safety procedures.
  • Develop lasting relationships with groups to retain business and increase growth.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of previous experience in the Food and Beverage industry.
  • Previous management experience in a catering setting or hotel preferred.
  • College degree preferred, with a Bachelor of Science in hotel/restaurant management being desirable.
  • Effective communication skills and a positive, professional demeanor.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of wine and food pairings.
  • Experience with multi-unit food and beverage operations.
