About the position

The Banquet Bartender at Hotel Cerro is responsible for providing friendly and efficient beverage service to guests during banquet events. This role involves setting up the bar, preparing drinks, ensuring safety and cleanliness, and assisting with various tasks throughout the banquet process. The bartender must maintain high standards of customer service and adhere to safety protocols while managing bar equipment and supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Set up the bar in banquet rooms prior to each event.
  • Prepare drinks for guests and servers for delivery.
  • Ensure serve corridor safety by transporting all equipment properly.
  • Handle all bar equipment and linens responsibly.
  • Attend to spills and breakage immediately, following safety procedures.
  • Gather all necessary equipment to service a function and maintain a clear service corridor.
  • Ensure proper handling of all products and equipment.
  • Maintain sufficient materials and supplies on hand.
  • Ensure minors and intoxicated persons are not served alcoholic beverages.
  • Act as a cashier for servers when necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the bar area by disposing of waste and cleaning glassware.
  • Provide opening and closing inventory of spirits.
  • Assist servers, other bartenders, and bar porters as needed.
  • Read assigned banquet menus and clarify any unclear items.
  • Ensure sufficient beverage ingredients are available and meet upsell opportunities.
  • Handle all equipment properly and ensure proper storage after use.
  • Assist all guests professionally and courteously, maintaining high customer service standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1-3 years of high volume bar experience required.
  • Hospitality experience preferred.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age to serve alcohol.
  • Safe Server Alcohol & Food certification required.
  • Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Windows OS and MS Office.
  • Excellent leadership and customer relations skills.
  • Detail-oriented with outstanding organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of spirits, beer, wine, and flavor profiles.
  • Experience with bar service and customer service in a hospitality setting.
