About the position

The Banquet Manager at the Rainbow Room is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Banquet Department, ensuring exceptional service and food quality that meets the high standards of one of New York's most iconic venues. This role involves supervising staff, managing event logistics, and maintaining operational excellence while fostering a positive team environment. The Banquet Manager will work closely with the culinary team and Banquet leadership to deliver outstanding guest experiences and uphold the core values of the establishment.

Responsibilities

  • Aid Banquet leadership in daily monitoring of operations and staff.
  • Supervise the Banquet Team and assist with assigned responsibilities.
  • Maintain proper staffing levels by sourcing, interviewing, and hiring qualified candidates.
  • Modify and supervise the training program for new hires to ensure standards are met.
  • Participate in ongoing staff meetings to discuss operational and service-related issues.
  • Lead daily pre-shift meetings to provide staff with necessary information.
  • Professionally supervise the Banquet staff to assure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Monitor and direct operations to ensure product and service quality during events.
  • Communicate effectively with the kitchen and other departments before and during events.
  • Ensure that Banquet storage facilities and areas are maintained and organized.
  • Treat vendors with respect and maintain good relationships with them.
  • Train staff to exceed guest and owner expectations and educate on SOPs and service techniques.
  • Create and update maintenance programs for FOH and BOH areas.
  • Ensure guest service meets or exceeds standards during all shifts and events.

Requirements

  • Two years of previous Banquet and supervisory experience in a similar operation.
  • Extensive knowledge of luxury Banquet, high-end catering, and event service standards.
  • Ability to use Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, and basic database programs.
  • Fluency in English; conversant in Spanish, French, or Italian is helpful.
  • Ability to read and interpret business documents and safety regulations.
  • Ability to compose reports and business correspondence effectively.
  • Strong leadership abilities and knowledge of Banquet operations.

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • À la carte experience strongly preferred.
