About the position
The Banquet Sous Chef is responsible for the overall success of daily kitchen operations, leading the culinary team while ensuring high-quality food production and guest satisfaction. This role involves managing kitchen staff, overseeing food preparation, and maintaining sanitation and food standards, all while adhering to the operating budget.
Responsibilities
- Manage kitchen shift operations and ensure compliance with Food & Beverage policies, standards, and procedures.
- Estimate daily production needs and communicate them to kitchen personnel.
- Assist the Executive Chef with kitchen operations and preparation.
- Prepare and cook foods for regular service and special events.
- Develop and create new culinary applications and presentations.
- Maintain purchasing, receiving, and food storage standards.
- Ensure compliance with food handling and sanitation standards.
- Perform duties of kitchen managers and employees as necessary.
- Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure standards are met.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of cooks and kitchen staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED with 4 years of experience in culinary or related field, or a 2-year degree in Culinary Arts or related major with 2 years of experience.
- Strong culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation and presentation.
- Ability to lead and manage kitchen staff effectively.
