About the position

The Banquet Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of the Banquet area at Saybrook Point Resort & Marina. This position involves both supervisory and administrative responsibilities aimed at ensuring customer satisfaction and high-quality service. The supervisor is responsible for managing staff, scheduling, payroll, and maintaining the organization of banquet facilities, while also ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with supervising the daily operations of the Banquet area.
  • Complete administrative duties including payroll, scheduling, and inventory management.
  • Greet guests enthusiastically to create a positive experience.
  • Create and issue the weekly schedule by Thursday afternoon.
  • Complete weekly payroll and submit to Human Resources by Monday morning.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of all banquet facilities.
  • Supervise daily operations including food and beverage preparation and service.
  • Conduct regular inventory of storage areas for proper supplies and cleanliness.
  • Attend weekly BEO meetings and contribute relevant information.
  • Prepare rooms for use, adjusting lights and temperature as needed before guests arrive.
  • Inspect table and bar set-ups for cleanliness and adherence to standards.
  • Ensure replenishment of items as specified on event orders.
  • Meet group coordinators prior to functions to ensure arrangements are agreeable.
  • Communicate additional meal requirements to the Kitchen.
  • Assist banquet staff to ensure optimum service to guests.
  • Handle checks in accordance with Accounting procedures.
  • Support the property's Green and Safety Teams.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years of banquet or food and beverage supervisory experience required.
  • Working knowledge of food service practices and procedures.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Server Certification or Bartender Certification preferred.
  • T.I.P.S Certified/T.I.P.S Trainer Certification preferred.
