About the position

The Banquet Server at Wind Creek Chicago Southland is responsible for delivering exceptional food and beverage service in a banquet setting. This role emphasizes friendly engagement with guests, ensuring their needs are met while maintaining a clean and organized service area. The position requires effective communication and a commitment to providing high-quality service, contributing to a positive dining experience.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and exceeds customer expectations
  • Communicates effectively with customers, co-workers, and supervisors
  • Provides the highest quality of service at all times to guests
  • Reads a Banquet Event Order (BEO) and completes setup accordingly
  • Sets tables correctly and uniformly with clean linens, silverware, china, and glassware
  • Cleans and fills table complements such as salt and pepper shakers and bread baskets
  • Pours wine using the method shown in training
  • Knows the menu for each function and explains ingredients and preparation methods to guests
  • Keeps station neat and clean during service
  • Patrols assigned station, refilling water and coffee, and checking on guests
  • Serves food, coffee, water, and other beverages to customers
  • Receives customer orders for food or beverages that vary from the set menu
  • Refers complaints on food and/or service to the Banquet Manager
  • Cleans banquet rooms and areas during and after functions
  • Uses proper clearing and tray breakdown procedures
  • Returns reusable table complements and condiments for cleaning and refilling
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required or currently enrolled in a GED program
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
  • One (1) year experience in a full-service restaurant or banquet environment
  • Ability to perform all aspects of the position including setup and cleaning
  • Must pass job interview and guest service audition
  • High level of maturity, dependability, and punctuality
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Completion of Responsible Vendor Alcoholic Beverage Service and BASSET training
  • Completion of ServeSafe Sanitation training
  • Ability to transport large trays weighing up to 40lbs through crowded areas
  • Knowledge of appropriate table settings, service ware, and menu items
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move about during entire shift
  • Ability to push/pull food carts and equipment weighing up to 250lbs
  • Willingness to work odd hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Willingness to travel for training as required
  • Must have an Occupational License or ability to obtain one
  • Willingness to work in a smoke/secondary smoke environment
